First VitiGEOSS Webinar
Intelligent services for the wine sector: Tackling current and future challenges
16th of March 2022, 10.00 – 11.00 CET, Online
The VitiGEOSS project invites you to take part in our first webinar to explore the current and future challenges of the wine sector and the use of open Earth Observation services.
During the webinar, project partners will present how VitiGEOSS is working to address the challenges by developing an innovative vineyard management solution that integrates information on climate predictions, crop phenology, irrigation, fertilisation, disease, and business and sustainability management. Furthermore, a sneak peek into the VitiGEOSS platform will be showcased for the first time, while wine producers involved in the project will give us their insights on how these services can help them to improve their operations.
At the end of the webinar, the audience will be invited to provide their thoughts and interests in an interactive session, which will help to shape the topics for the upcoming project’s webinars.
Target audience:
- Technology providers
- Viticulture and agriculture stakeholders
- Earth Observation and climate services providers
- Scientific community (in particular climate services, climate predictions, EO, satellite data)
- Other European projects
This is the first webinar of a series of webinars that will be organised by VitiGEOSS project to explore the use of open Earth Observation services for the improvement of viticulture operations. In this series we will dicuss the potential of services, such as those developed in the project, in helping to optimise sustainable vineyard management while mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, reducing enviromental impacts and promoting economic growth at the local level.
The European VitiGEOSS project integrates and improves existing solutions coupling satellite imagery with in-field sensors to increase resolution and reliability of satellite information applied to all aspects of viticulture and specific wine-business operations. In the framework of the project innovative solutions are being developed to support agronomic management aimed at vine cultivation that integrate and improve existing solutions in the field of weather and climate forecasting, phenology, disease prediction and resource optimization.
