VitiGEOSS project coordinator Eurecat attended the Expo AgriTech 2024 which took place on 26 – 28th November 2024 in Malaga, Spain.
At the exhibition Eurecat had its own stand and showcased VitiGEOSS’ platform, an innovative digital solution aimed at advancing precision viticulture and fostering more sustainable and resilient vineyard management. Among all the services of the platform, Eurecat developed the business and sustainability manager service and the disease management tool, both of them highlighted during the event.
The first one supports wine makers and farmers to plan best timing for field operations, to achieve a better planning of resources needed, reduce the use of raw materials, and promote a sustainable winegrowing. On the other hand, the disease management is a tool for forecasting the downy and powdery mildew evolution considering the meteorological conditions and crop status optimising the number of treatments and resources used to assure its effectively.
Moreover, Josep Pijuan, researcher in Eurecat’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Unit, participated in the panel discussion “Transforming Wine Production with Smart Vineyards.” His presentation, focused on VitiGEOSS included practical applications of the platform, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize vineyard management through data-driven insights and artificial intelligence.
Expo AgriTech is the premier event for technology, industry, and innovation in the agricultural sector, bringing together industry leaders with the aim of helping farming operations enhance their competitiveness and productivity.
